Music theory classes at Kwest Studios follow the LCM Popular Music Theory syllabus, covering all kinds of popular music. As part of the course, you will study: keys, chords, scales, rhythms, harmony and improvisation as well as developing a broad musical knowledge (including instrumentation, musical terms and the history of popular music).
The course is designed to focus on applying theory in a practical music making context. The course can be studied at any level from pre-grade 1 up to grade 8. The exams are not compolsory. Our most popular level is Grade 5, which can be used as an alternative to ABRSM Grade 5 theory, or LCM Grade 5 Classical Theory, for those wishing to take higher grade practical exams.
You do not have to be learning your instrument at Kwest Studios to study theory here. Players of any instrument are welcome to join our theory course, but it is most suitable for players of popular music instruments (e.g. Piano, Keyboard, Guitar, Drums, Saxophone, Voice, Bass etc.).
Group classes cost £50 for a 10X 40min sessions.
These courses can also be studied on a 1-to-1 basis, fees for this are £16 per 40min lesson.
