In Keyboard Corner classes at Kwest Studios, the emphasis is on fun and developing a love for music, and the many musical activities involved in each lesson certainly accomplish that!
Each week, children learn a little more about keyboard and piano, and I aim for them to develop good performance skills within the first year.
The following activities (and more!) are incorporated into each class: Singing, imitation playing, keyboard geography, ear training, note reading, theory, rhythm work and ensemble playing.
Graduates of the Keyboard Corner course will definitely have a head start on children
starting music at an older age, and will experience greater success in whatever future music
al activities they pursue. All they need to start is a piano or keyboard and some parental support to begin what is sure be an exciting and rewarding learning experience. On completion of the course, students can move on to the Pop Piano and Keyboard Course and build on their great musical foundation.
The course consists of weekly 1 hour sessions, and runs for 45 weeks of the year. Tuition fees are £33 per month. Class sizes are small (max. 6 students) and everyone has use of a keyboard or piano for the full lesson time.
Students following the Keyboard Corner Group Lessons can take London College of Music exams in either Piano or Keyboard.
There are three levels of 'pre-grade' exams:
Prepreparatory
Step One
Step Two
These exams are entirely optional, but can be a great motivator, and help students become used to the exam process.
